INFORMATION SHEET FOR WEBELOS CROSOVER

OUR GOAL: To provide the best scouting experience

Possible to the scouts and parents of troop 363.

OUR SITUATION: We currently have 50 Scouts registered with the troop. Our Troop Committee has voted that we do not want to limit the size of the troop, but if we continue to grow, we must have our adult participation grow at the same pace.

OUR CONCERN: With the size of the Troop possibly exceeding 60 youths, we must have more adults to participate at all levels of the Troop i.e. Troop Committee, weekly meetings, field trips, transportation and weekend events. I would like to present to the parents and the Scouts the information and requirements for join Troop 363. We would like to take all Scouts who are truly interested in join and want to know the commitment required on your part upon coming into the troop. With this information, you can decide if you and your son desire to accept the RESPONSIBILITY of this troop.

SCOUT REQUIREMENTS BEFORE JOINING:

1. Attained the “ARROW OF LIGHT”

             Or

2. Be 11 years old

             Or

     1. Register as an adult leader and participate in the Troop.

At some level. This may be done by serving at the Troop Committee level or as an Assistant Scoutmaster.

     3. Attending if at all possible, one of the first three campouts your son goes on.

     4. Attend and assist on at lest three outdoor activities (trash pick-ups, hikes, merit badge workdays, and or campouts) each year.

We will not exclude boys with single parents or parents with hardships that prohibit them from being active in the Troop, but Scouting is about training young men which requires adult leadership. THAT LEADERSHIP COMES ONLY FROM THE PARENTS OF THE SCOUTS IN TROOP 363.

Our desires that we will be able to accept all boys that seriously wants to join Troop 363. We hope you will use the above information to decide if you and your son have the time and desire to make the commitment to Troop 363. If you have other interests or commitments that would prevent your involment PLEASE do not join. There are several other Boy Scout Troops in San Angelo that may not require as much involment as Troop 363. This would also, hopefully, allow us to not have to turn down a boy who has the time and the desire to be in Scouting.

PLEASE consider carefully your long-term desire to be in Scouting If you would like to be an active part in a wonderful organization, then we welcome you to fill out an application in our forms section of our troop web page. Or drop by the first Tuesday of every month and sit in on one of our troop committee meetings.

Yours in Scouting

Curtis Miller
